ABOUT

Hi, I’m Ikra :) Founder of Studio IKRA and an artist & designer based in London, UK. I’m excited to expand my public realm art practice into homeware designs for people to enjoy in their homes and everyday lives.

My earliest exploration of the power of shape and patterns were through my mum’s collection of Pakistani textiles, from hand embroidered fabrics, woven prayer mats and Islamic geometric designs; these all embraced abstract art through shapes and patterns to honour the divine. This exposure sparked my passion for designs that enhance our daily lives through inspiring reflective moments and increasing positive intentions into everyday spaces.

My journey into designing homeware textiles was inspired by an artist residency in Somerset, where I had the opportunity to transform an accommodation pod through mural designs and shelf objects for a year-round living space. Complimenting the space with a custom throw blanket, cushions, and rugs - I loved how bold textiles could transform the energy and feel of the space.

Drawing from the symbolism of ancient architecture, geometric shapes and bold colours, Studio IKRA pieces are designed to uplift your thoughts and emotions, using the transformative energy of shapes and colour to strengthen our connection with ourselves and the spaces we inhabit.
